After the KE-ASAT Moratorium: What Next?

On April 18, 2022, Vice President Harris announced that the United States would not conduct destructive, direct-ascent anti-satellite (ASAT) missile tests, and that the United States seeks to establish this as a new international norm for responsible behavior in space. The Vice President also called on other nations to make similar commitments and to work together in establishing this as a norm, making the case that such efforts

The 24th Federal Forecasters Conference

Forecasters often need to predict the present—or “nowcast’’—to help inform policy decisions. The onset of the pandemic highlighted the importance of nowcasting the economy and the pandemic itself. Conditions altered rapidly and policymakers responded to those changes with unprecedented fiscal and monetary stimulus and with public policies such as lockdowns and mask mandates.
