The Office of Undergraduate Studies and CCAS Advising is organizing a faculty roundtable that will address systemic racism by faculty from across CCAS disciplines. The roundtable will provide a multi-disciplinary perspective on systemic racism with a focus on this summer’s protests and social justice movements.

Faculty will discuss the following questions followed by Q&A from the audience:

  • How, in your field, do you talk about systemic, structural, or institutional racism?
  • Why, in your field, is this an important conversation for what you study and teach?
  • How can your field help us reflect upon and understand the events of the past few months, both the unequal impact of COVID on different communities and the widespread Black Lives Matter protests in response to George Floyd's murder by Minneapolis police?
  • How can your research/field give us ways to think this forward, to find ways in which to meaningfully participate in social justice activism and activities, to make interventions, and to create solidarity?
  • What can members of the GW community - students, staff, and faculty - do?
