It's So Old It's New Again: (Re)defining and (Re)turning to Best Practices (And a Return to GW Law)
In the disorienting year that has unfolded on all fronts and in all aspects of the law, it seems more important than ever that we focus on fundamentals and get back to basics. As teachers, lawyers, and mentors, we have tried to maintain our balance as well as our optimism as the ground shifts beneath our feet, and the rules and systems that we have relied upon are systematically deconstructed. In this fourth annual Regional Mid-Atlantic Clinical Conference, we hope to come together to remind ourselves of how best to engage in the work of clinical teaching, and examine whether the "Best” in Best Practices should be redefined; our pedagogy reimagined. We hope that our discussions can help us respond to the needs of our students and of a generation of students who have lived through a global Pandemic only to engage in the study of law as it is being simultaneously ignored and attacked. If we believe the adage, "In times of trouble, go with what you know,” this conference will provide a space to ensure that we know it well.
The Conference will begin with a cocktail reception on Friday evening, February 6, 2026, followed by a full day of programming on Saturday, February 7, 2026. All events will take place at the George Washington University Law School.
