About this Event
Join the GW Russian-speaking community and allies as we commemorate the second anniversary of Alexei Navalny's death in Russian prison.
Who was Alexei Navalny?
Alexei Navalny (1976-2024) was Russia's most prominent opposition leader and anti-corruption activist. After surviving a poisoning attempt in 2020, he courageously returned to Russia knowing he would be imprisoned. On February 16, 2024, he was killed in a remote Arctic prison colony by Putin's regime.
Why This Matters:
Navalny's courage inspired millions worldwide to stand against authoritarianism and corruption. His final message was clear: "Don't give up." This vigil honors his legacy and demonstrates solidarity with those fighting for democracy and human rights in Russia and beyond.
