Ndidi Okonkwo Nwuneli, President & CEO of the ONE Campaign

The George Washington University’s Institute for African Studies (IAfS) is pleased to host Ndidi Okonkwo Nwuneli, President and CEO of the ONE Campaign, for the 2026 Vivian Lowery Derryck Bridges Institute Africa Lecture.

A leading voice in global advocacy and social innovation, Nwuneli has spent her career advancing initiatives that address poverty, food security, public health, and sustainable development across Africa. As head of the ONE Campaign, she leads efforts to mobilize citizens, policymakers, and partners around the world to fight extreme poverty and preventable disease, with a particular focus on Africa.

In this year’s Bridges Institute lecture, Nwuneli will reflect on Africa’s place in a changing global landscape and the role of advocacy, leadership, and citizen engagement in shaping the continent’s future. Her remarks will be followed by a conversation moderated by IAfS Director Jennifer Cooke and audience Q&A.

The Vivian Lowery Derryck Bridges Institute Africa Lecture highlights African leadership, innovation, and ideas and fosters dialogue among students, policymakers, and civil society on Africa’s role in addressing global challenges. Previous speakers in the lecture series have included Nobel Laureate Ellen Johnson Sirleaf and Kenyan anti-corruption leader John Githongo.
