Do you want to develop skills in a less commonly taught language? Are you seeking an immersive language learning experience abroad next summer?

The Boren Scholarship (a Department of Defense program) and Critical Language Scholarship (a Department of State program) can enhance your language skills and jumpstart your career.

The Center for Undergraduate Fellowships and Research offers advising, essay review, and more for both of these awards. Additionally, Boren Scholarship applicants may participate in a recommended campus review process, which offers applicants the opportunity to receive structured feedback and an endorsement letter to strengthen their application. The first step to participating in the campus review is to complete the Boren Awards Intent to Apply Form by August 31, 2025.

If you are unable to attend an information session or would like to learn more, schedule a meeting with GW’s Boren Scholarship and CLS campus representative, Kevin Walden. Questions? Email kevin.walden@gwu.edu

This workshop is a part of the Center for Undergraduate Fellowships and Research's Buff & Blue Table Talk: Discussions about National Awards series for all GW undergraduate students and alumni interested in pursuing national and international awards.

GW has an institutional commitment to ensuring that all of our programs and events are accessible for all individuals. If you require any accommodations to participate in this event, please contact libraryevents@gwu.edu at least 72 business hours (3 business days) prior to the event.
