Tracie Smith is a dedicated law enforcement professional with nearly 15 years of experience as a Special Agent in the FBI. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from GWU, with minors in Psychology and Women’s Studies. In 2008, she earned a Master of Forensic Science with a concentration in High Technology Crime Investigation.

Before joining the FBI, Tracie worked as a Computer Forensic Examiner at the Drug Enforcement Administration, where she developed a strong foundation in digital investigations. Since becoming a Special Agent, her work has focused on a variety of cybercrime investigations with the past eight years dedicated specifically to crimes against children. She is recognized as a subject matter expert in her field.

Beyond investigative work, Tracie is deeply committed to advancing law enforcement techniques and supporting the mental wellness of law enforcement personnel. She has represented the FBI as a speaker at Interpol for several years and serves as a guest instructor at the European Union Agency for Law Enforcement Training in Budapest, Hungary. In 2016, she became a certified Crisis Negotiator.

Her contributions have been recognized through multiple honors, including the FBI Director’s Award for Outstanding Technical Advancement in 2021 and a Medal of Excellence in 2024 for her innovative work in cyber investigations.

Tracie values curiosity, creativity and presence, and finds joy in a wide range of interests and hobbies. She is a voracious reader, an aspiring writer and devoted parent to two young children. Her passions include environmentally conscious living, cultivating mindfulness, and practicing apiculture.
