Join the Latin American and Caribbean Studies Initiative (LACS) for a speaker series with visiting professor Jessie Trudeau. Despite limited evidence of effectiveness, aggressive policing remains a common tactic in the Americas. This talk explores how restricting such approaches, paired with internal, non-police oversight, can reduce police and civilian violence. In areas with organized crime, these reforms may also help slow criminal conflicts and make violence more predictable.
