You work with data all the time, but how well do you trust it? Various problems with data integrity, from formatting accidents to intentional alteration or fabrication, can adversely affect research outcomes. Learning to recognize these problems is key to producing reliable and replicable research.

This introductory workshop will cover four categories of failure that compromise data integrity: Poor Sampling Strategy, Intentional Alteration/Suppression, Technical Corruption, and Metadata/Version Drift. Through concrete examples and hands-on practice, participants will gain a critical understanding of why data integrity is not just a technical detail, but an ethical and civil rights imperative.
