About this Event
1957 E St NW, Washington DC 20052
In the early 20th century, hemp production was common for a variety of uses, including both the production of rope and mainstream medicine. The first regulation of cannabis came in 1906 with the Pure Food Act, which required over-the-counter drugs containing cannabis be labeled. In the 1970s, the Controlled Substances Act outlawed the use of cannabis, but in 1996 California legalized medical cannabis.
As legalization and decriminalization policies spread across the U.S. and the retail market expands, many wonder if we're moving in the right direction. Join us for a panel discussion on the pros and cons of regulated cannabis led by Professor Roger Nober, director of the GW Regulatory Studies Center.
Panelists
Following the panel there will be a reception for attendees to network with fellow alumni, students and friends. This event is free to attend and open to the GW community.
