Join Professor Lawrence Garber to discuss everything you've ever wanted to know about the US electoral process! Professor Garber will answer all your questions about the US electoral process and discuss:

  • the evolution of the U.S. election system and the relevant administrative practices;
  • the process for resolving electoral disputes;
  • the aspects of the U.S. election system that are out of sync with contemporary international norms; and
  • what an outside observer should be looking for on election day and the weeks thereafter.

Larry Garber is a returning Adjunct Professor at George Washington University having previously taught various courses at the Elliott School between 2018-2021. Larry’s teaching experience includes two years at the National Defense University’s Eisenhower School of National Security and Resource Strategy, and adjunct stints at Carnegie Mellon University, Arizona State University, and University of Denver. He served as a senior official with the US Agency for International Development (USAID) for 15 years, including five years as mission director for USAID/West Bank-Gaza (1999-2004). From 2004-2009, he was the Chief Executive Officer at the New Israel Fund and, more recently, has worked as an adviser to The Carter Center and other non-governmental organizations. He has observed elections in more than 30 countries.
