Alternative grading methods, including ungrading, are a popular topic: NPR’s Weekend Edition even featured a story about ungrading this past June. You might be curious about these methods, but do not know where to get started? Should you overhaul your course, and if so, how do you decide which method is a good fit for you? This workshop will explore a number of alternative grading strategies and invite you to try implementing a small change to how grading works in your course. All are welcome at any Faculty Development workshop. This workshop is at the advanced level, which means that you may benefit from having some knowledge already and the workshop will involve more active participation.

This workshop is part of the Re-envision Assessment series for GW instructors looking to explore options for reenvisioning assessment in your classes, from examining how grading works in your course overall, to redesigning assignments that are more meaningful for students and more fun for you to grade.
