Featuring speaker Dr. Lana Ruvolo Grasser, Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology and the Ben L. Silverstein Institute for Brain Health at Wayne State University.

This talk will cover almost ten years of research on the biological and mental health impacts of civilian war trauma and forced migration on youth resettled as refugees of Syria in the United States. We will discuss the intersection of narrative and photographic data and neuroscience to help us better understand the critical needs of youth in resettlement contexts. We will then discuss efforts towards intervention to build resilience at the individual level and, through policy and advocacy, at the structural level.

This event is funded by the Office of the Vice Provost for Research, University Seminars Funding Program.
