GEIA students' policy briefs were successfully submitted for inclusion to the UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW). Around the world, harmful gender norms continue to impose barriers on women’s independence and participation levels across all aspects of society. In low- and middle-income countries, women, particularly in rural communities, face compounding socio-political challenges that are further complicated by poverty. However, rural women are indispensable to efforts around the world aimed at dismantling the gendered status quo. By improving access to quality education, economic resources, and other means of boosting agency, rural women can be the catalysts for inducing change in their communities and beyond.
