About this Event
Featuring Chris Sharp
GSEHD Doctoral Candidate in Curriculum and Instruction
With an Introduction by Dr. Jonathan Eakle
Associate Professor of Curriculum and Pedagogy
Chris Sharp's research conducted at WorldPride takes a creative, post-qualitative approach to queering curriculum. WorldPride provides a unique opportunity to explore informal queer curriculum and its impact on queer identities, subjectivities, and performativities. To garner insight and collect material to cut from, Chris engages with observations of WorldPride and associated spaces, conversations with people and Pride itself, and by taking photographs. Ultimately, this post-qualitative work will be assembled as a dissertation that maps previous queer research and traces queerness and informal queer curriculum at WorldPride.

Chris Sharp is a doctoral candidate at GW’s Graduate School of Education and Human Development. As a middle school educator and a curriculum researcher, she has spent the past several years studying, learning, and implementing queered educational practices. The research she conducted for her dissertation happened at the intersection of her personal and academic interests, allowing her to explore queer and informal curriculum at and around WorldPride associated events.
