Title: Predicting Interaction Success Among Autistic and Nonautistic Adolescents and Young Adults
Abstract: Atypical social interaction is a diagnostic feature of autism spectrum disorder and impacts social experiences, well-being, and mental health. In this talk I discuss studies using naturalistic neuroimaging and behavioral approaches to examine factors that predict social interaction success. I demonstrate that individual factors alone (e.g., theory of mind ability) are not sufficient and that the dyadic context (e.g., neurotype match, synchrony) should also be considered to effectively predict communication and social interaction success.
