The GW Austin Alumni Community invites fellow GW Alumni‚ parents‚ students‚ and guests to attend this year’s annual SXSW reception‚ featuring a private screening of the new short documentary This Is Texas‚ followed by a conversation with the filmmakers and cast members.
The film‚ directed and produced by John-Carlos Estrada ESIA BA ’09‚ Zak Zeh‚ and Jacob Clark‚ and executive produced by GW professor Cynthia McClintock‚ spotlights the Austin Gay Men’s Chorus and its trans members as they prepare for a national choral festival. Through music and personal storytelling‚ This Is Texas explores identity‚ resilience‚ and the power of community in a changing political landscape.
This event is open to all GW alumni‚ parents and guests. Registration is $25 and includes food and drink (beer/wine‚ and non alcoholic beverages). Space is limited‚ so please register in advance.
