GW Research for a Sustainable and Equitable Future

This celebration will explore the diverse scholarly endeavors undertaken across the George Washington University (GW), all focused on addressing complex challenges and fostering innovation to create a more resilient and just world. Students, postdocs, faculty and staff will present a broad array of research and university-wide initiatives on this year’s theme of sustainability and equity.

The event is open to the entire campus community, alumni, employer partners, external collaborators and the public.

The theme of this year’s GW Research Showcase is “GW Research for a Sustainable and Equitable Future.” GW experts are researching ethnoracial and socioeconomic disparities in access to medical care and health outcomes, municipal infrastructure, criminal penalties, and ambient air pollution, among numerous other projects. Our scholars collaborate with communities in D.C., the Arctic circle and beyond to explore topics including climate change and its health impacts, energy transitions and renewable energy manufacturing, urban resilience, and the impacts of tourism on nature, commerce and culture.

The GW Research Showcase program includes:

• Student and Postdoc Posters: Meet and engage with approximately 50 postdoc and student poster presenters from across GW’s schools and colleges.
• A Display of Faculty Books: View a sampling of books relevant to this year’s theme. Several authors will be present to discuss their scholarship.
• Institute Sessions: Hear updates directly from leaders of university-wide research institutes and initiatives related to ethnoracial and socioeconomic equity, sustainability, trustworthy artificial intelligence, global gender equality and more!
• Lab and Facility Tours: Get behind-the-scenes looks at laboratories and facilities where groundbreaking research is being conducted in GW’s Science and Engineering Hall.
• Information tables and light refreshments.
