Be part of the launch of Revolutionary Reads.  The series opens with an inaugural author talk in the Revolutionary Reads series‚ featuring Nicole Rogers‚ GWSB ’09‚ author of Beyond the Borders: A Korean’s Journey Between the North and South. The conversation will be moderated by Dr. Immanuel Kim‚ Department Chair and The Korea Foundation Kim‑Renaud Professor of Korean Literature and Culture Studies.

About the Author: Nicole Kim Rogers is the granddaughter of Tae-hyok Kim and grew up captivated by his tales of adventures in Korea. In 2020‚ she began reading and piecing together his stories through daily interviews‚ which became the foundation of Beyond the Borders. Professionally‚ Nicole has worked in marketing for companies including Ektron (now Optimizely)‚ Box‚ Google‚ WeWork‚ Matterport‚ and ai12z. Beyond her career in tech‚ she is passionate about the outdoors—running‚ climbing‚ biking‚ and hiking—and her love of exploration has taken her to all seven continents. Nicole currently resides in Washington‚ D.C.

Light refreshment will be served for in-person attendees.  This event is co-sponsored by GW Institute for Korean Studies and is open to all alumni. 

Revolutionary Reads‚ GW’s newly reimagined alumni book club‚ invites you to explore engaging titles and connect with fellow members of the GW community. Each cycle culminates in a dynamic 60‑minute discussion—held virtually via GW Zoom or in person—where all voices are welcome‚ whether you’ve finished the book or simply want to join the dialogue.
