With the advent of Large Language Models, literary and cultural critical inquires have, for the first time in history, an opportunity to engage with nonhuman systems capable of producing human-equivalent texts. What modes of engagement will be of most benefit in advancing these fields? What opportunities exist to use LLMs to better understand human experiences and the human lifeworld? Is it important to protect and preserve the human-authored textual archive from AI-authored texts, and if so, how might this be accomplished?
Join us for this event featuring Professor N. Katherine Hayles, Distinguished Research Professor at the University of California, Los Angeles; the James B. Duke Professor Emerita from Duke University; and member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
This event is hybird, in person and on Zoom.
