A Talk by Dr. Celia Reddick

Dr. Celia Reddick is a Visiting Assistant Professor at the Lynch School of Education and Human Development at Boston College and a Fellow at the Harvard Graduate School of Education’s Refugee REACH. Celia’s research examines multilingualism and education in contexts of forced migration. Specifically, Celia examines how language-in-education policies and practices influence the futures open to refugee young people and the ways education stakeholders navigate competing educational aims during moments of uncertainty. Previously, Celia worked as a 9th /10th grade teacher in New York City within the Internationals Network for Public Schools—a network of schools designed for newcomer students—and with teachers navigating shifting language-ineducation policies in Uganda and Rwanda. Her research has been funded by the NAEd/Spencer Foundation and the Weatherhead Center for International Affairs at Harvard University, among others, and is published in a variety of venues including the Comparative Education Review and the Journal of Refugee Studies. Celia holds master’s degrees in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) from Lehman College, in International Education Policy from the Harvard Graduate School of Education, and a Ph.D. in Education from Harvard University.
