About this Event
Professors Malinee Peris & Robert Baker collaborate in a celebration of their combined 80 years (50+30) of teaching and making music.
Professors Malinee Peris & Robert Baker collaborate on a program that celebrates their combined 80 years (50+30) of teaching and making music at GW. The program includes Robert Schumann’s Dichterliebe (Poet’s Love), a 16-song cycle for voice and piano where the poetry explores the doubts and uncertainties of love. We will follow that with the whimsical setting for piano and narrator of The Story of Babar the Little Elephant by Francis Poulenc
While a seemingly profound contrast in repertoire, we hope you will experience the unexpected joys of Schumann’s exploration of unrequited love, and be touched by the deep pathos of Babar’s journey.
