Massimo Fichera

Massimo Fichera is a Senior Research Fellow at the Turku Institute for Advanced Studies (TIAS), in connection with the Faculty of Law, University of Turku. Prior to this position, he was an Academy of Finland Research Fellow and Adjunct Professor at the Faculty of Law, University of Helsinki. He has also been Lecturer in European Studies at the Network for European Studies and, previously, a Post-Doctoral Researcher in the Academy of Finland project on 'The Many Constitutions' led by prof. Kaarlo Tuori.

His research and teaching interests lie in the area of constitutional and legal theory and EU constitutionalism, in particular the interplay between legal systems. He is also interested -from a legal theoretical perspective - in the notion of transnational law and comparative constitutional law.

He holds a PhD in Law (University of Edinburgh, UK) and has been Visiting Scholar in several institutes, including the European University Institute (Florence), the Institute for Advanced Studies in the Humanities (Edinburgh), the Faculty of Law of the University of Lund, the Oñati International Institute for the Sociology of Law. He was also the Emile Noël Global Fellow at the Jean Monnet Centre for International and Regional Economic Law and Justice, NYU.
