Michael D. Hausfeld, widely recognized for his leadership on antitrust matters and his groundbreaking cases in human rights law, is the Chairman Emeritus of Hausfeld and is based in Washington, D.C. Michael’s distinguished career has included some of the largest and most successful class actions in the fields of human rights, discrimination, and antitrust law.

Michael has a long record of successful litigation in the antitrust field, on behalf of individuals and classes, in cases involving monopolization, tie-ins, exclusive dealing, and price fixing. He is involved in ongoing investigations of antitrust cases abroad and pioneering efforts to enforce competition laws globally. Michael has an abiding interest in social reform and has been a part of some of the most groundbreaking cases in that arena both in the U.S. and around the world. He was a member of the ABA Antitrust Section’s Transition Taskforce, which advised the incoming Obama Administration and has chaired the ABA’s Civil Redress Committee. 

In 2023, Global Competition Review bestowed Michael with a Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of his many contributions to the development of competition law throughout his career. Similarly, in 2022 the American Bar Association’s Antitrust Law Section honored Michael with a Lifetime Achievement Award for a career that has left an indelible impression on the Section and for the achievements and services that he has provided to the cause of promoting competition and protecting consumers.

Patrick A. Malone is a trial lawyer based in Washington, DC., who represents seriously injured people in lawsuits against hospitals, doctors, drug companies, government agencies, and other defendants  (including currently, suing Donald Trump on behalf of US Capitol Police officers injured in the Jan. 6 insurrection). Malone has written three books on effective advocacy, the latest: The Fearless Cross-Examiner: Win the Witness, Win the Case. He teaches advocacy to plaintiff lawyers across the country. Before attending Yale Law School, Malone was an award-winning investigative newspaper reporter. Malone and his staff work out of offices a few blocks north of the White House, and they represent clients throughout Maryland, Virginia and DC.

James Hannaway is Senior Litigation Counsel at Sanford Heisler Sharp. James’s practice has focused on employment discrimination, qui tam, and public interest litigation, representing governments, individuals, and classes. Among other cases, he currently represents the City of Baltimore against America’s largest ghost gun manufacturer, a class of Black Deputy U.S. Marshals alleging race discrimination against the U.S. Marshals Service, and a whistleblower alleging that the largest single-family landlord in America defrauded hundreds of California cities by failing to secure renovation permits. Before joining the firm, James completed a clerkship for Deborah Robinson, Magistrate Judge for the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia. He received his law degree with highest honors from GW Law, where he was Research Assistant for Associate Dean Alan Morrison, Articles Editor of the GW Law Review, and President of the American Constitution Society.

Lynne Bernabei has been litigating employment discrimination, civil rights, and whistleblower protection cases for over thirty-five years. She is a founding partner of Bernabei & Kabat, PLLC where she handles claims of civil rights violations, discrimination, and other employment and contract disputes. Ms. Bernabei has developed extensive trial experience in federal and local courts throughout the country. Ms. Bernabei has been included in The Best Lawyers In America, Super Lawyers, Washingtonian, and Lawdragon.  Ms. Bernabei is currently representing a Metropolitan Police Officer and has represented a survivor-leader of sex trafficking, executives and managers in the financial and mortgage finance industries, physicians, attorneys, corporate managers, government employees, and nuclear industry workers in discrimination and whistleblower cases, and Muslim charities.
