Please join IBM Government & Regulatory Affairs Executive Kevin Cuddy in a fireside
RCR chat with GW Export Control Officer Cledwyn Jones as they discuss recent
government regulatory changes impacting AI, the semiconductor industry, quantum
computing, and many other areas defined as Critical and Emerging Technologies by the
U.S. government.
During this conversation, participants will:

  • Engage with the academic implications of U.S. export control regulations, even for research performed solely in the U.S.;
  • Explore the national security motivations driving recent changes to export control regimes; and,
  • Expand their understanding of the multiple regulators implementing these regimes, and their differing priorities and approaches.

This session is open to faculty, postdocs, students, and staff at GW, Children’s National,
and academic institutions in the D.C. region. It is designed to help attendees meet the
Responsible and Ethical Conduct of Research training requirements set by the National
Institutes of Health, the National Science Foundation, and other federal agencies.

Hosted by the GW Office of the Vice Provost for Research and its Office of Research
Integrity & Compliance. For questions related to the event, contact Lela Abramishvili
at lela.abramishvili@gwu.edu.

GW is committed to promoting the highest standards of ethical research and scholarly conduct
while pursuing its research mission. This session is part of GW’s comprehensive Responsible
Conduct of Research program, which includes events hosted by the Office of Research Integrity
and Compliance and other campus partners.
