#Seminar; Clinical Trials
Abstract:
The Maternal-Fetal Medicine Units (MFMU) Network is a collaboration between fourteen Clinical Centers, the Data Coordinating Center (DCC) and the NICHD. The objective of the MFMU Network is to conduct definitive, rigorous, and reproducible, multi-site clinical trials and observational studies in pregnant and lactating people with the goals of reducing maternal and neonatal morbidity and mortality, and expanding the evidence base on the safety and efficacy of therapeutic products used during pregnancy. The MFMU Network has recently launched two new studies and is in the process of implementing two more studies. This presentation will include an overview of the MFMU Network and these four new studies:
- Azithromycin Prophylaxis for Prelabor Cesarean Delivery Trial (PRECEDE)
- Aspirin Dose Escalation for the Prevention of recurrent preterm delivery Trial (ADEPT)
- Gestational Hypertension and Preeclampsia Blood Pressure Treatment Goals <140/90 vs. <160/110 mmHg (GOALPOST)
- Optimal Dosing of Understudied Drugs Administered to Pregnant Women per Standard of Care (PregDose)
This seminar is part of the series "Clinical Trials: The Pinnacle of Evidence", hosted by the GWU Biostatistics Center and funded by the GWU University Seminar Funding Program.
