Join astronomer Dr. Bethany Cobb Kung, GW Associate Professor of Honors and Physics, for a stargazing event on Tuesday April 15th at 9:00 p.m. on the Quad of the Mount Vernon Campus. While DC suffers from significant light pollution, the University Honors Program's Unistellar eQuinox 2 digital telescope features unique software that reduces the impact of the city lights on images of the night sky in real time, giving us a great view (weather permitting!) of planets, galaxies, nebulae and star clusters.
We will observe objects such as Jupiter and Mars, as well as the Orion Nebula and the Pinwheel Galaxy. Participants will be able to download the Unistellar app on a smartphone or tablet to follow along with our observations on a personal device. As we need clear or only slightly cloudy skies in order to observe the universe, in the event of clouds or rain on the 15th, this event will be postponed until Tuesday, April 22nd, also at 9:00 p.m. on the Quad
