Listening circles are voluntary, community-oriented forums aimed at providing an equitable opportunity for all attendees to have a voice. This set of listening circles will help students share and listen to each other’s experiences regarding the Israel-Hamas conflict, including its impacts on the GW community. Dinner is provided at this workshop. While drop-ins are welcome, it is recommended to RSVP in advance so that the event organizers can create an inclusive dinner and event experience.

Listening circles will occur in groups of no more than 10 students and a trained facilitator. Listening circles are structured for anyone to skip their turn at any time. This is a setting where all participants have a reasonable expectation of privacy, and so recording others without their knowledge and permission is a violation of university policy. We hope students find a brave and supportive space to share, but sharing your perspective is not a gift you are obligated to give.

Listening circles require only that you listen. Themes from the listening circle will only be shared out with permission from everyone in the group.
