DESCRIPTION:How do you teach\, and how do your students learn\, amidst news
  of devastating events like war\, mass shootings\, and natural disasters w
 rought by climate change? When external events affect our ability to teach
  and learn\, it can be difficult to decide whether and how to address them
  with students. This workshop will offer some guiding frameworks to help s
 hape your approach\, support your students\, and process your own response
  to events. This workshop is at the introductory level\, which means that 
 it assumes no prior knowledge.\n\nThis workshop is part of the Evidence-Ba
 sed Teaching Strategies series for GW instructors seeking strategies to in
 crease student engagement and communicate with learners in new ways. Works
 hops in this series are sponsored by the Instructional Core. The Instructi
