 r first guest in the inaugural Industry Speaker Series. We have asked Dr. 
 Kusnezov to share his career insights with our students and he has agreed 
 to an extended Q&A session with our students as well. Read his biography b
 elow to understand why we are so excited!\n\nBIO\n\nThe Hon. Dimitri Kusne
 zov\, Ph.D. is currently Vice President at the Nuclear Threat Initiative w
 here he leads the FutureSafe: AI and Emerging Technology initiative. Prior
  he has served in many roles including most recently as the Presidentially
  Appointed/Senate-Confirmed Under Secretary for Science and Technology at 
 the US Department of Homeland Security\, where he was responsible for iden
 tifying operational gaps\, conceptualizing art-of-the-possible solutions\,
  and delivering operational results that improve the security and resilien
 ce of the nation.\n\nPrior to that\, Dr. Kusnezov served in scientific and
  national security positions\, including the Deputy Under Secretary for Ar
 tificial Intelligence & Technology at the US Department of Energy\, Senior
  Advisor to the Secretary of Energy\, Chief Scientist for the National Nuc
 lear Security Administration\, as well as directing research\, development
 \, test and evaluation programs for the US nuclear weapons enterprise. Pri
 or to public service\, he was a professor of theoretical physics\, spendin
 g over a decade on the Yale University faculty\, and as a visiting profess
 or at numerous universities around the world. He earned his MS in Physics 
 and Ph.D. in Theoretical Nuclear Physics at Princeton University and recei
 ved Bachelor of Arts degrees in Physics and in Pure Mathematics with highe
 st honors from UC Berkeley.
