Join us for the first in a series of lectures hosted by the George Washington University Columbian College of Arts & Sciences on topics that shape our world. The Columbian College Academy is a dynamic platform for showcasing the creative scholarship of our distinguished faculty and is designed to foster meaningful conversations across multiple fields.
In his lecture Unreasonable Doubt‚ Dr. Holden Thorp‚ professor of chemistry‚ will explore the complex history of science and the persistent challenges of science denial. Through the lens of a sciences‚ he will provide insights into how skepticism has shaped scientific discovery and continues to impact public understanding of critical issues today.
Following the presentation there will an interactive Q&A with Dr. Thorp.
More About Holden Thorp:
Holden Thorp is a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences‚ National Academy of Inventors and the American Association for the Advancement of Science. He holds an honorary degree from Hofstra University and a Doctor of Laws degree from North Carolina Wesleyan College: and served as provost at Washington University from 2013 to 2019. His research interest are in drug development and bioinorganic chemistry. He launched a company called Viamet Pharmaceuticals that developed VIVJOA to treat chronic yeast infections.
