About this Event
1957 E St NW, Washington, DC, 20052
Studies have found that as a result of Russia’s ongoing invasion of their country, a majority of Ukraine’s population may now suffer from measurable post-traumatic stress disorder, with many more experiencing other forms of psychological trauma from the violence Russia has unleashed on them. This event brings together many of the world’s leading researchers on the causes and consequences of war-related psychological trauma to share their perspectives in a pair of roundtables. The first roundtable will explore the extent and nature of this trauma, examining its impact on everything from personal well-being to inter-group tolerance to attitudes to democracy. The second roundtable will consider what the international community, in addition to Ukrainians themselves, might do to address this major challenge that will surely continue to face Ukraine after any resolution of the war.
