Fictionalizing History: Are There Limits?

A Conversation between a Historian and a Novelist

Text: Fictionalizing History. Are There Limits?

World renowned historian, Dr. Deborah Lipstadt, and award-winning novelist, Dr. Dara Horn, talk about writing, history, fake news, and truth in the world as we know it. This event is part of GSEHD's Conversations That Matter series, and is presented by the Mayberg Center for Jewish Education and Leadership.

In 2016, Dr. Lipstadt was portrayed by actress Rachel Weisz in the film Denial, which was based on Lipstadt's 2005 book History on Trial: My Day in Court with a Holocaust Denier. Dr. Horn's first novel, In The Image, was published when she was 25 years old and went on to receive a National Jewish Book Award.

$5/ticket for GW students and community members.
