Norman Rockwell possessed an almost uncanny ability to read the American psyche at any given moment in time. In this talk, Virginia Mecklenburg, chief curator of the Smithsonian American Art Museum, will discuss his iconic Four Freedoms paintings from their evolution to their impact. She will also talk about several other paintings focused on military commitment.
