LEGACY, a moving exhibition and immersive installation, is a celebration of the remarkable five-decade career of GW Corcoran dance professor Maida Withers, ground-breaking choreographer, dancer/performer and interactive media artist.

Recognizing 50 years of radical collaborations, LEGACY presents a visual exploration of the history and philosophy of Wither’s experimental dance company—Maida Withers Dance Construction Company—while simultaneously activating the present with a new work created in collaboration with noted political projection artist, Robin Bell.

Historical works such as LASER DANCE, Dance of the Auroras—Fire in the Sky, DIGG, and Maida’s long commitment to experimental dance, emboldened by interactive technology, is given new context with the Corcoran Flagg building at the George Washington University. Special events feature live performances with celebrated dancers, musicians, computer artists, performance poets, and others associated with the legacy.
