Music Departments, Hip Hop, and the Challenge of Significant Difference

What can the incorporation of hip hop within music scholarship and pedagogy teach us about the challenges of ‘diversity’ in predominantly white institutions? GW's Graduate School of Education and Human Development and the Corcoran School of the Arts & Design invite you to a talk with Dr. Loren Kajikawa, Associate Professor of Music at the Corcoran School. Dr. Kajikawa's research and teaching focus on American music of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries, with special attention to the dynamics of race and politics.
