Reproduction Reconceived: Family Making and the Limits of Choice After Roe v. Wade

Join the WGSS community on Monday, November 8th from 1:00-2:00PM to celebrate the new book Reproduction Reconceived: Family Making and the Limits of Choice After Roe v. Wade by Dr. Sara Matthiesen (Assistant Professor of Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies and of History).  Dr. Attiya Ahmad (Assistant Professor of Anthropology and of International Affairs) will serve as discussant. They will discuss how the landmark case Roe v. Wade redefined family by treating having children as a choice, but how it has also coincided with widening racial and economic inequalities that make choice more myth than reality. Dr. Matthiesen will discuss how the effects of incarceration, for-profit healthcare, disease, and poverty have been worsened by state neglect, forcing most to work harder to maintain a family. We hope you can join us to hear directly from Dr. Matthiesen. Register for this event now at https://buff.ly/3o1H8Ua
