Theatre of the Oppressed

Lorena Monagas

“Theatre of the Oppressed” is a theory of Brazilian theatre-maker Augusto Boal designed to turn audiences into active agents rather than passive observers of their own lives and stories.  In this interactive workshop, participants will enact scenarios and tableaux to expose and upset hierarchical relationships in social structures.  No previous performance experience required; non-actors welcome!

Lorena Monagas is a multi-disciplinary artist, native to Puerto Rico. She currently resides in NYC, where she earned her BA in Fine Arts.
